I always make sure I warm my legs up well with 5 mins on the bike and some really light leg extentions before starting my leg workouts. Lunges are a killer exercise for legs. I do them unilaterally and go very deep on each rep. Your legs always hurt after lunges, they work the entire leg on every rep.
I do Leg presses are with a wide stance and toes slightly pointed out so that your knees travel over your feet throughout each rep.
On hacksquats I keep my feet fairly close together and I keep them positioned pretty low on the platform.
